Nikolai Mintchev



Nikolai Mintchev graduated from the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen, Germany in the classes of Nana Yashvili and Mintcho Mintchev. In the period 2001-2003 he was a first concertmaster of Essen Philharmonic Orchestra of and since 2003 – a concertmaster of Wuppertal Symphony Orchestra.

Since 2005 he has been a violin lecturer at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen. He was first prizewinner at Jan Kocian International Competition in Czech Republic (1988) and Jugend Musiziert National Competition, Germany (1996), second prize winner at Yfrah Neaman International Competition in Germany (1996), and won prizes for debut at Musician of the Year – Bulgaria (1997), and for the youngest concertmaster in Germany (2001).

In 2001 he was awarded the Music Instruments Fund Prize in Germany and received violin Nicolaus Gagliano.
