Margarita Ilieva was born in Sofia. She graduated from the “Lyubomir Pipkov” National School of Music where she studied with Emilia Kaneva. From 2005 to 2010, she was a student at the “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov” National Academy of Music under Prof. Stella Dimitrova-Maistorova and Assoc. Prof. Ph.D. Iliya Chernaev. At the beginning of 2015 she took her Ph. D at National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, Sofia.
She has participated in a number of master classes given by Prof. Waldemar Wojtal, Alexander Strukov, Prof. Viktor Chuchkov, Ph.D. Angela Tosheva, Prof. Tamara Poddubnaya, Altenberg Trio, Prof. Menno van Delft, Prof. Einar Steen-Nøkleberg, etc.
She has been awarded with numerous prizes at international competitions including Young Music Talents (chamber music category, First Prize), “Albert Roussel” (First Prize), “Liszt – Bartok” (First Prize), etc.
Margarita Ilieva has given various concerts in Bulgaria, Austria, France, Switzerland, Germany, Russia and USA, as well as frequently participated in Bulgarian festivals – among others at ppIANISSIMO, Varna Summer Festival, Sofia Music Weeks, Apolonia, New Bulgarian Music. She has recorded for WDR (Köln), Bulgarian National Radio and Bulgarian National Television. She has performed as a soloist with the BNR Symphony Orchestra, Sofia Philharmonic, Sofia Soloists Chamber Ensemble, Shumen Philharmonic Orchestra, Gabrovo Chamber Orchestra and Academic Symphony Orchestra. She has performed under the baton of conductors Horia Andreescu, Emil Tabakov, Plamen Djurov, Angel Stankov, Georgi Patrikov, Dejan Pavlov, Lyobomir Denev Jnr, etc. She has participated in various chamber ensembles including The Ensemble for contemporary music “Musica Nova” witch Director and Conductor is Dragomir Iossifov. Her repertoire includes works of different styles and periods. Margarita Ilieva has made Bulgarian and world premieres of solo and chamber works by composers of the rank of Vasil Kazandjiev, Yuliya Cenova, Borislava Taneva, Emil Mirchev, Alexandre Mastrangelo, Benjamin Yusupov, Gunnar de Frumerie, Alexander Wagendristel, Roland Freisitzer and many others.
From 2016 Margarita Ilieva is assistant in Piano Department in Theory, Composition and Conducting Faculty in National Academy of Music “Prof. Pancho Vladigerov”, Sofia, Bulgaria.
