Liliana Kehayova

Bulgarian cellist Liliana Kehayova, a forth generation musician, is currently cello professor at the New Bulgarian University, a member of Vienna Chamber Orchestra and (since 2014 she is) the general secretary of International Music Academy Orpheus in Vienna.

As a passionate solo and chamber music performer, Ms. Kehayova has participated in numerous music festivals and recitals throughout Europe. She performed as a soloist with orchestras such as Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, Mitteleuropa Orchestra Udine, North Checz Philharmonic Teplice, Varna Philhamonic Orchestra, “New Symphony Orchestra”, “Camerata Orphica” among others. Ms. Kehayova has been honored to perform chamber music concerts with musicians such as Milena Mollova (piano), Gerard Causse (viola), Mario Hossen (violin), Vladimir Mendelssohn (viola), Romain Leleu (trumpet), Raffaele Mallozzi (viola), Rudolf Leopold (cello) and others. She has performed in venues such as Musikverein (Vienna), Athenaeum (Bucharest), Rudolfinum- Dvorak Hall and Smetana Hall (Prague), Palau de la Musica Catalana (Barcelona), and Bulgaria Hall (Sofia).
Ms. Kehayova has won numerous solo and chamber music competitions throughout Europe among which first prize of the Vienna Conservatory Competition "Fidelio" (2013), first prize of "Concertino Prague" (Czech Republic, 2006)…… and others.

During her studies in Bulgaria, Liliana was awarded by the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria for her great achievements in the field of arts. Ms. Kehayova was the recipient of scholarships from "Thomastik - Infeld Vienna" (2010), "Bank Austria" (2012) and “Live Music Now” the Yehudi Menuhin foundation. In 2012, she was honored with the grand scholarship of the Austrian foundation "Alban Berg”.

In 2017 the composer Gheorghi Arnaoudov dedicated his concerto for two cellos and strings “Antiphonia Dulcis Armonia” to Liliana and (her former teacher) Lilia Schulz-Bayrova. They premiered the piece at the international festival “Sofia Music Weeks” 2017. One year later, Ms. Kehayova was invited to participate at the opening concert of the same festival. She performed the 1st Cello Concerto with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra by Marin Goleminov under the baton of Maestro Mark Kadin.

Liliana is the founder of the 1st National Competition “Alfred Binner” in Bulgaria named after the German violin maker. The competition gives the opportunity to young talented Bulgarian musicians to play on a master instrument made by the German violin maker Alfred Binner.

Liliana Kehayova graduated from the National School of Music "Lyubomir Pipkov" in Sofia, Bulgaria as a student of Anna Atanasova . She completed her Bachelor and Masters degrees in cello performance at the Vienna Conservatory studying with Lilia Schulz-Bayrova.
