VIVALDI

Antonio Vivaldi : Il Sacro Strumentale
Modo Antiquo is the only baroque group to have received two Grammy Awards nominations (1997, Concerti con molti Istromenti by Vivaldi) and 2000 (Concerti Grossi Op. VI by Corelli). Their mission is to perform rare and unpublished works of the great Venetian, with a focus on the revival of Vivaldi’s opera of our times with first recordings and theatrical performances of his works.
Founded by Federico Maria Sardelli in 1987, the ensemble combines musicians with virtuosity and knowledge of historical performance languages and practices. Modo Antiquo is characterized by a robust yet philological interpretation, informed but far removed from contemporary effete fashions.Federico Sardelli is the main conductor of the Accademia Barocca di Santa Cecilia and a member of the Scientific Board of the Istituto Italiano Antonio Vivaldi, among others. Modo Antiquo have prepared an all-Vivaldi program with six incomplete concerts found in the elegantly bound volume in red leather of virtuoso violinist Anna Maria della Pieta, a student of Vivaldi’s. Federico Sardelli carried out a rigorous reconstruction based on many authentic concordant sources, so now these concerts can reach the audience.
