Shalamov Duo – First Prize Winners of the highly prestigious ARD International Music Competition
The critique describe Shalamov Piano Duo as Two excellent individual pianists in an extraordinary symbiosis. Alina and Nikolay Shalamov were embedded into the history of prestigious ARD International Music Competition when they got not only the highest evaluation from the jury, but were also awarded the audience prize, as well as the prize for the best interpretation of the obligatory piece! One more amazing fact – in the 64 years of history of ARD competition only three times the First Prize have been awarded in the Piano Duo category. As a duo the two pianists start to build repertoire in Bulgaria under the supervision of prof. Milena Mollova, then they went to study in Madrid at “Reina Sofia” Music School, and after that – Rostock, Germany for their master’s Degree. Their list of awards is long – there are prizes from Portugal, Russia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria. Based in Berlin nowadays, Alina and Nikolay Shalamov are in their way to organise their own festival and are continuously invited to perform all over Europe. The Shalamov Piano Duo is coming to Varna with a program that includes works by Schubert, Rachmaninov and Ravel. Be there to listen to the duo the music world is talking about!
