“Orchestrating Future Together” is the motto and vision of the European Union Youth Orchestra (EUYO). Founded on a unanimous vote of the European Parliament on 8 March, 1976, the EUYO has been Cultural Ambassador for the European Union for 50 years. Its founding Music Director was Claudio Abbado succeeded by Vladimir Ashkenazy. There is a long line of world’s finest musicians that have worked with the orchestra such as Daniel Barenboim, Leonard Bernstein, Herbert von Karajan, Mstislav Rostropovich. Many of the Orchestra’s now 4000 alumni have become notable conductors, soloists, teachers, and instrumentalists working with the major orchestras of Europe and throughout the world. A truly global brand, the EUYO has presented their programs in most of the world’s major concert halls and festivals, including the BBC Proms, New York’s Carnegie Hall and Vienna’s Musikverein. The young musicians are often invited to perform at high-class diplomatic events.
