Enkhe (Enkhbaatar Baatarjav)
Enkhe is a second-generation conductor: His father was the artistic director and chief conductor of the National Song and Dance Theater of Mongolia, directed the orchestra of the National Opera and Ballet Theater and the Ulaanbaatar Philharmonic Orchestra. Enkhe graduated from the Ural Conservatory where he majored in cello and symphonic conducting; his teacher was M. Paverman, People’s artist of the USSR. He is a prize-winner of the Prokofiev International Conducting Competition (St Petersburg, 2003) and the Award of the Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region (2009, 2011).
In 1991 he started working as a cellist and conductor assistant of the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra and in 1996 he became its conductor. From 1998 to 2006, he was the Director of the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra. At present, he is a conductor of the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra participating in about 30 programs every season. Under his directorship, the orchestra gave performances with Natalia Gutman, Eliso Virsaladze, Paul Badura-Skoda, Naum Shtarkman, Dmitry Bashkirov, Boris Belkin, Sergei Stadler, Soyoung Yoon, and Graf Murzha.
In 2006 he became one of the founders and the chief conductor of the Ural Youth Symphony Orchestra, which takes part in prestigious international festivals and in the subscription series of concerts given by the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic. In 2015 Enkhe became the director of the Summer Orchestral Academy — the project of the International Youth Cultural Center opened at the Sverdlovsk Philharmonic upon the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.
