The French master of this new and rare instrument Michel Deneuve developed a special technique, unveiling its hidden beautiful sound; he transcribes both classical and contemporary works, composes new pieces – thus reaching new audiences and inspiring other composers to create music for crystal organ.
Michel Deneuvе will join artistic forces on stage with the newly created (2021) String quartet of the Belgian National Orchestra. The concertmaster Misako Akama, born and raised in Japan, studied afterwards in Paris and Vienna. She won the First Prize in the 2015 Varna International Violin Competition, as well as the Pierre Boulez special mention prize at the 2014 Long/Thibaud competition and Mozart Prize at the Henri Marteau competition.
Another very talented quartet member is the principal of a string group in the National Orchestra of Belgium, Bulgarian violinist Jacqueline Preys, a graduate of New Bulgarian University and Vienna Music University, with specializations in Paris and Lion and prizes from competitions in Vienna and Plovdiv. The violist Marc Sabbah is described as “magnificent player” by Zubin Mehta who has been regularly inviting him as guest principal violist of Israel Philharmonic. He had graduated cum laude from Amsterdam Music Academy, won many awards and now holds that position at Belgian National Orchestra. The cellist Dmitry Silvian was born in Odessa, studied in Saint Petersburg and Paris and is winner of the chamber music award at the Madeira Music Competition. The Quartet had quickly gained recognition and prestigious invitations.
Michel Deneuve and these gifted young musicians will present for first time in Bulgaria crystal organ and the beauty of quartet music. The program is tempting – pieces by Deneuve and Third quartet by Mendelssohn!
