Musical Journey – Greece, Turkey, France, Italy, Bulgaria
Luciano Berio and Beatles – shared musical influences and admiration for each other that lead to Berio’s arrangements of Beatles’songs; Romanian-born French-Greek composer Iannis Xenakis, architect, and mathematician who originated musique stochastique based on models; Ulvi Cemal Erkin, one of the five pioneer composers in Turkey born between 1904 and 1910, subsequently known as The Turkish Five, who had studied in Paris. Paris is where the renowned Bulgarian composer Marin Goleminov (born in 1908) got his education with Vincent d’Indy – his Five Sketches will be interpreted by Borusan quartet, one of the leаding Turkish chamber ensembles. Two more Italian composers from XX century give beauty to this program – Ottorino Respighi with his piano quartet and Alessandro Solbiati, prize winner from Rome RAI-Paganini, Brescia International Karlheinz Stockhausen Competition and the Alfredo Casella Competition in Sienna with his piano sonata. Performers from six countries will join on stage in Varna for this ambitious program.
