In Varna, the audience will have the pleasure to listen to Asturias by Isaac Albeniz, one of the most influential composers in post-romantic times, followed by the Suite for solo cello that goes back to Bach’s traditions with Spanish motifs embedded, composed by the famous virtuoso cellist from the beginning of 20th century Gaspar Cassado. Cassado’s teacher is also in this program – notable Pablo Casals, one of the best cello players of all times with the traditional Catalan carol The Song of Birds. Casals’s version that he usually played as an encore became very famous. This concert will be an emotional meeting with some of the most interesting and challenging solo cello pieces that represent Spanish music.
