On September 11 at 19:00 Festival Baroque Orchestra under the baton of maestro Vladimir Kiradzhiev will take the stage in the Hall of the University of Economics with the program “Baroque – Neobaroque”. Soloist is Sophie Tree – bassoon. Vivaldi’s Concerto in C Minor in Minor RV 484, Telemann’s Overture – Suite in G Major and Handel’s popular Water Music will be performed.

A contemporary look at the Baroque will be variations by Alexander Tansman on a theme by Frescobaldi. The concert will be a wonderful opportunity for connoisseurs to meet the mastery of one of the most respected Bulgarian conductors in Europe – Maestro Kiradzhiev, who since the beginning of the changes in our country has developed his career in the music capital of the world – Vienna. He is the only Bulgarian, professor of opera conducting at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, first guest conductor at the Opera na Zamku (Szczecin, Poland), permanent participant in the International Opera Music Festival in Sigulda Castle (Latvia). Already during his studies at the Sofia Conservatory he took part in master classes with the famous Kurt Mazur, Franco Ferrara and Karl Osterreicher. As an established opera conductor, he has worked over the years with Anna Netrebko, Olga Peretyatko, Asmik Grigoryan, Marcelo Alvarez, Maya Kovalevska, the departed Kamen Chanev, Tanya Ivanova. We are waiting for his reading of ancient music, which will be an event in Varna.

The festival baroque orchestra includes musicians from 12 European countries – outstanding soloists who will play together in this specially developed for the IMF “Varna Summer” project. Soloist in the concert for bassoon and orchestra by Vivaldi is the young Frenchwoman Sophie Dervo, winner of prestigious international competitions, including ARD Munich and Beethoven-Ring in Bonn. Sophie has performed as a soloist with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the SWR Stuttgart Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, the Lyon National Orchestra and others. He has given concerts in prestigious halls such as the Vienna Music Festival, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Paris Philharmonic, the Santori Hall in Tokyo, the Royal Albert Hall in London and Carnegie Hall in New York. He is a lecturer at the University of Music and the Arts in Vienna.

The concert is held in partnership with the Italian Cultural Institute.
