BBC Symphony Orchestra London will put the final touch on this year’s festival program. Founded more than 90 years ago, this remarkable orchestra has constantly been a driving force in the British musical landscape. This concert marks BBC Symphony Orchestra’s first ever visit to Varna. The musicians will be performing under the baton of their chief-conductor Sakari Oramo, famous for its authority, elegance and passion. An accomplished violinist, he was originally concertmaster of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra before holding positions as Music Director for Birmingham Symphony orchestra and principal conductor of Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, among others. Since 2012 Sakari Oramo has been leading the BBC Symphony Orchestra London. Swiss-Italian pianist Francesco Piemontesi has gained a reputation as one of the stellar musicians of his generation, especially when it comes to interpretation of the German classical and romantic repertoire. He appears as a regular guest with many of the world’s leading orchestras, in concert halls and music festivals around the globe with distinguished conductors such as Gianandrea Noseda, Fabio Luisi, Antonio Pappano, Daniele Gatti, Paavo Järvi, Zubin Mehta etc. He‘s playing is characterized by sensitivity, intimacy and poetry, but also by power and brilliance. In his own words, he does not perform to entertain but to let audience participate in the deep dimensions of music. Piemontese had studied piano with Alfred Brendel, Arie Vardi and French concert pianist Cecile Ousset. Francesco Piemontesi appears in various projects with Renaud Capuçon, Tabea Zimmermann, Leonidas Kavakos, Janine Jansen, Daniel Müller-Schott, Stephen Kovacevich, etc.
