Works by Bulgarian composers
Vesko Stambolov is one of the most profound Bulgarian pianists. Born in Varna, now he teaches piano in Barcelona. He had performed at numerous prestigious stages in Europe, Asia and Africa, as well as at all major international festivals in Bulgaria. His main fields of interest include the music of Bach and Bulgarian piano music. He is a keen promoter of the masterpieces by Bulgarian composers, bringing many of them back to life. In 2021 Columna music released CD with Stambolov’s rendition of music by Nenov, Pipkov, Goleminov, Vladigerov and Veselin Stoyanov. It was highly praised by European critics. Pieces by Dimitar Nenov, the avant-garde composer at 30’s and 40’s of XX century, form the first part of Vesko Stambolov’s all-Bulgarian recital. In the second, the audience will have the pleasure of listening to the music of rarely performed Ivan Dimov and Stefan Ikonomov, as well as carefully selected works by Alexander Raichev, Alexander Tekeliev and Krassimir Taskov. A pianist of rare devotion to music, his programs are undoubtedly worth attending!
