MÁRIO LAGINHA’S PIANO AND CAMANÉ’S VOICE TOGETHER IN THE PROJECT “AQUI ESTÁ-SE SOSSEGADO”.
Camané and Mário Laginha are no strangers. They have already given several concerts together. From the excellent understanding felt in those sporadic collaborations, the inevitable deepening of that symbiosis has now resulted: “Aqui está-se sossegado” is a new project thought from scratch to give more brightness to a voice and a piano that have discovered each other since the first time they filled a stage.
The concerts that make up “Aqui está-se sossegado” will include about twenty themes, taken from the traditional fadista canon, from Camané’s repertoire and will also include new ones composed by Mário Laginha who, as a reminder, has already put to music a poem by Álvaro de Campos “Ai Margarida”, which is part of one of Camané’s last albums.
“Camané, with his silky baritone, can emote with the best of them, but never takes it over the top. This voice, with its volume and sheer beauty, springing from this small-framed man is something to behold.” Tom Huizenga, NPR Tiny Desk Concerts 2015
The event is organized together with the Camões Institute, Camões Sofia and the Embassy of Portugal.
