Two piano trios and one piano quartet – all they were created in the very youth of the three great composers. Max Reger, famous with his organ works, which use Baroque forms, is among the last keepers of the late Romantic traditions. He was only 18, when he wrote this trio. Richard Strauss was 20 and under the Brahms’ influence at the time he started to work on his quite big quartet with an impressively rich sound and philosophical depths; Lyubomir Pipkov, a gifted pianist himself, a student of Yvonne Lefebure, wrote his trio during his student years in Paris, where his tutor was Paul Dukas. Three beautiful chamber works that can rarely be heard in one program!
