Miroslava Katsarova’s „Paloma“ concert program was released at the end of 2023, when together with her long-time stage partner – piano player and composer Miroslav Turiyski, both have selected specific musical material and developed it in a new and different sonority in the context of modern jazz.
After the great success of the Paloma concerts in Plovdiv and Sofia, it is turn of Varna, where on September 19 the new concert program will be presented in the City Art Gallery at 7pm. The concert includes performances of musical material based on original compositions by singer Miroslava Katsarova, as well as some jazz and pop classics belonging to the Latin American tradition of the 20th century.
This is why the program is named after one old popular Mexican song “Paloma”, created in 1954.
Latin American style gave directions in the new sound, in which the creative focus within a deep and meaningful process of reworking turned those songs into merely new ones, so that they sound both modern, contemporary, but also close to the original classical aesthetics of this type of song art.
In this course, new arrangements have been created, they combine the sound of a jazz quartet and a string quartet, the orchestrations that have been created by Miroslav Turiyski. Beside Miroslava and Miroslav, the concert will also feature Aleksander Lekov-bass, Mladen Dimitrov-drums and the string quartet “Perfect” consisting of Ivelina Hristova, Dilyana Davidova, Maria Venkova and Antoanina Yurgandzhieva.
The concert in Varna is part of the supporting program of the “Varna Summer” festival and was supported by Municipality of Varna and Varna Culture Fund.
